A Modern Farmhouse Kitchen for the Ages

The homeowners wanted to modernize this dated kitchen but had analysis paralysis because they were worried it wouldn’t blend with their traditional Colonial Connecticut home. They hired interior designer Arianna Thill @actdesignct, who explains the challenge with a kitchen renovation like this “is to avoid a time warp when you walk from the traditional foyer into the kitchen…we wanted the new space to flow with the old, but feel lighter.”

Thill accomplished this by choosing a blend of white and wood materials and classic finishes like hand-made subway tile for the backsplash. Instead of doing a full wall of uppers, Thill kept it light and added a beautiful white oak pantry for storage. She says “the goal was for it to feel like a piece of furniture.” It does. The countertops are quartz. The pendant lights are from @circalighting.

They were able to bump out a wall in the back to add some breathing room and larger windows.

The just-right furnishings, including stools and chairs from @roveconcepts, a table from @franceandson, and a chandelier from @westelm, as well as the accessories and finishing touches - were selected by interior stylist, @beautypigeonhome. We’re not saying we are the jealous type but this is a case of major #kitchenenvy!
