Graphic Designer Riva Fischel was ready for a dramatic exterior update from her classic black & white. Her bold color choice deserves a blue ribbon! She chose Benjamin Moore’s Everard Blue and achieved a moody modern look that is also historical and timeless.

Riva’s process: she looked at other houses for over a year and was most drawn to dark exteriors with dark trim. But she wanted to use something “a little more feminine than dark gray, and also didn’t want to do EXACTLY what’s already been done.“ Plus, blue/greens are her go-to colors.

Everard Blue (CW-575), a deep blue with shades of green, has a story too. It is based on a 1720s interior color found in the Thomas Everard House on Palace Green - one of the oldest houses in the “chicest” neighborhood in Colonial Williamsburg, VA.

The shutters are painted Benjamin Moore Black. She made another easy update by removing the mullions from the upper floor windows and painting the window trims black too. Isn’t she lovely in black & blue?

The fluted planters are from Terrain. Riva’s painter is Edgar Garcia of EG painting. Well done Riva and Edgar and thanks for sharing with us!
