Budget Butler Pantry Facelift

Since Dry January is moving along slower than a 3-year old putting on boots, here's a look back at a fun Butler Pantry/Bar remodel done on the super cheap.

The original cabinets were cherry wood. The homeowner was obsessed with Farrow & Ball’s “cult color” Hague Blue. This seemed like the perfect spot for a color pop and the blue works beautifully with new brass bar pulls from Lew’s Hardware. The mullions were removed from the glass doors, and new glass was installed in the opening.

The big save at $219 was the Karlby walnut veneer countertop from Ikea. It can be cut to any size by a handyman or contractor. The backsplash was done in some white penny tile leftover from another project in the house. It runs up the back of the cabinets too. Nice touch!

On the opposite wall, traditional colonial closet doors were replaced by Shaker style half-glass doors which make the pass-through space feel bigger and allow for display of nicer tableware. The doors were ordered from Ridgefield Supply Company.

The accessories on the bar are from www.food52.com and www.shopterrain.com.
