This sustainably-built pool house is behind the home of landscape designer Allison Feuer of Allison Feuer Design.

The modern getaway is made by Elbar Tiny LIving (elbartinyliving.com), from two shipping containers welded together.

Up on top, a garden grows. Allison planted a roof garden that is as beautiful as it is functional. She wanted to experiment with the trend and loves the added environmental efficiency benefits. She says the green roof will keep the pool house10 degrees cooler in summer and warmer in the winter than a regular roof. And because it’s planted with succulents it requires almost no water.

Added bonus - the seeds that blow off the roof have started a shade garden behind the pool house - it’s like free landscaping - who doesn’t want that?? Check out this video to see what we mean.

Thank you for this backyard snoop Allison! Does seeing this have you wondering where you can put a green roof? Put your questions in the comments.
