About
Christina Roughan launched her design career working with iconic brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, where she was responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of retail stores and showrooms globally.
In 1996, she established Sullivan Design, an interior design firm based in NYC. Her distinctive talent for blending modern and traditional interiors in unexpected ways quickly attracted high-profile clients, including Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, and Takashimaya.
The firm was re-founded as Roughan Interiors in 2009, growing into a global international design firm with offices in Weston, CT, and NYC.
Roughan is highly regarded for her attentiveness to client needs, meticulous attention to detail, and discretion, which has made her a favorite among international celebrities and design editors alike. Her work has been featured in leading publications such as AD Online, Interior Design magazine, House Beautiful, Elle Décor, CT Cottages & Gardens, and AtHome Magazine, to name just a few. Christina resides in a 200-year-old house in Weston, CT, with her husband, two daughters and Cookie their Boston Terrier, a home that is, unsurprisingly, in a constant state of renovation.
“My favorite part of the job is the installation. When everything comes together and we bring a home to life. The client inspires me to create a lifestyle that works for them.”

Q&A
How would you describe your design style and philosophy?
Roughan Interiors exemplifies a design philosophy that harmonizes modern aesthetics with traditional elements. Characterized by meticulous attention to detail and carefully curated selections, Roughan Interiors crafts spaces that successfully transition into a cohesive home environment. The firm maintains involvement from project inception to completion, dedicating significant effort to sourcing accessories and unique decorative artifacts from international locations. A core tenet of their approach is prioritizing and emphasizing the client's most important needs and desires.
Which projects excite you most and are you hoping to do more of?
Our passion lies in the harmonious blend of old and new. We frequently engage in the renovation of historical homes, meticulously preserving their unique character and architectural integrity while thoughtfully introducing modern functionality and sophisticated design. This appreciation for history is balanced by a deep-seated enthusiasm for modern architecture and contemporary design. As avid "furniture geeks," we are constantly studying and sourcing pieces that represent the pinnacle of design innovation, from iconic mid-century classics to cutting-edge contemporary creations. This dual interest allows us to approach every project with a comprehensive understanding of both tradition and modernity, resulting in spaces that are timeless, authentic, and uniquely tailored to our clients' lives.
You take on a wide breadth of projects, from new builds to real estate. How do those connect?
I offer specialized design services that bring valuable insight into the important decision of purchasing or selling a home. Sometimes that means consulting with buyers before or right after they purchase—space planning, renovations, or updates—so they can feel confident their investment will meet their lifestyle goals. On the other side, marketing a home for sale is very different from personalized design, so I can work with real estate agents to update listings to create maximum appeal for today’s buyers.

Temps are falling, but alas, energy costs are not. What does that have to do with home design? Well it turns out that the next great design flex may very well be converting your home to geothermal energy. What is geothermal energy? Follow along below, and we will explain all.
