About
Nicole Kofoed, the creative force behind & Found, has long been captivated by spaces rich in history and character—and by the thrill of discovering vintage treasures. Her design journey began in New York City, where she worked with boutique firms specializing in textiles and luxury interiors. This early experience shaped her distinctive approach: curating environments that seamlessly blend refined aesthetics with a sense of approachable comfort.
With over two decades in the field, Nicole has developed a keen eye for timeless antiques and beautifully handcrafted pieces. In 2008, she founded & Found as a celebration of vintage and artisanal design. She believes that thoughtfully combining old and new elements brings depth, warmth, and authenticity to a space—revealing the layered stories of the people who inhabit it.
“Every item in my collection is selected for its craftsmanship, sustainability, and narrative, aiming to inspire more intentional and conscious living.” - Nicole Kofoed

Q&A
How do you describe your personal design style, or which “found” objects excite you the most?
I am drawn to classic design with a twist - pieces that combine traditional design with a spark of the unexpected. Color and texture play a huge role in what catches my eye, whether it’s a 100 year old chair with a bold painted finish, a vibrant painting in a worn, gilded frame or a chest of drawers with a quirky, hand-painted design. I get especially excited when those types of finds happen to be by notable makers, bringing an extra element of history and provenance to a space. My design approach leans into the art of high-low decorating - mixing beautiful flea market finds with heirloom quality pieces to create a home that feels personal and genuinely lived-in.
What are the benefits of shopping locally for one-of-a-kind items?
While the importance of supporting our local small businesses is a given, sustainability is another. It is at the heart of my business. The vintage and artisan pieces that I offer aren’t trendy or disposable. They’re thoughtfully crafted and timeless, designed to move with you as styles evolve. You won’t look back and timestamp when they were purchased - they simply belong. I love offering a studio space where you can see and touch the textures, colors and craftsmanship firsthand. In addition to selling to the general public, I offer a trade program for designers with special pricing and the opportunity to try pieces in a client’s home before committing.
This 1763 Westport home is older than the U.S.—but thanks to designers Diane Karmen and Nancy Galasso, you wouldn’t guess it after its bold makeover. Peek inside to see how history and modern design collide.
