Where the View Wins: A Year-Round Outdoor Oasis in Vermont
There are homes that are beautiful, and then there are homes that are lived in beautifully. This Quechee, Vermont retreat is very much the latter. Designed as a second home for a young, outdoorsy, ski-obsessed family, every inch of the property was imagined for real life: post-mountain soaks, long summer days outside, and gatherings that spill easily from one space to the next.
When the homeowner couldn’t find someone locally who truly understood her vision, she kept looking and eventually connected with Jamie, owner of Group Works. From there, Group Works designed the entire outdoor experience: the pool, spa, gardens, stonework, seating areas, and the way each element sits within the rolling Vermont landscape.
The pool and spa were never meant to compete with the view. With mountain scenery this good, the design had to know when to step back. Everything settles into the property naturally, allowing the eye to move outward toward the landscape.
The spa is used year-round — in true Vermont fashion — especially after long ski days. It feels less like a feature and more like part of the family’s routine.
The result is a property that feels polished but not too precious, designed but not overdone. It looks like it has always been there, which is exactly the point.
