About

A single mom, caregiver, and former C-suite executive, Marci Gordon, learned to be fast, resourceful, and to deliver exceptional results with less. She founded Dwell Done Well to bring that get-it-done spirit to interior design in Fairfield County, working with new families building their homes one step at a time and with empty nesters reimagining their homes for the growing families who come back to stay. Her focus is helping clients spend less without sacrificing luxury or quality, delivering homes done well and under budget.

“We specialize in affordable luxury design, proving that a dream space is within reach, no matter your budget.”

Q&A

  1. How would you describe your design point of view?

My design point of view starts with listening. Every client comes to me with a busy life, a picture of the comfort they want, and usually a wish that someone else would manage the process. My job is to understand all of that and take the work off their plate. Because every family is different, I don't impose a signature look. My aesthetic shifts with each client's taste, lifestyle, and budget, so the finished home feels like theirs, not mine.

  2. What types of clients and projects are the best fit for your studio?

My best-fit clients are new families building their first real home and empty nesters making room for the growing families who come back to stay. Projects typically range from about $15,000 for a small bathroom to $200,000 for a larger renovation, and none are too small for my full attention. Whatever the scope, I'm passionate about the details and committed to making the design work within the client's budget. I'm on site when the grout is being set to make sure everything is executed as designed, on time and on budget.

  3. What's one design lesson or piece of advice you wish more homeowners knew before starting a project?

Your home is not a showroom. Pinterest and Instagram are great for getting ideas flowing, but a true home should reflect the people who live in it. Your story matters, so don't be afraid to keep the meaningful pieces that make you who you are, like a grandmother's dresser, art from your travels, or a well-loved family table. Then build fresh, inspired design around them. It's a home that feels personal, and it's often a smarter use of your budget too.
