About
Further Afield is led by mother-daughter team Elayne Landau and Rachel Landau Fisher, who bring a unique combination of real estate expertise, construction management experience, and design sensibility to the thoughtful renovation of historic and period homes. Further Afield offers a full-service, hands-on partnership — managing each project from initial concept through final styling — with a shared commitment to craftsmanship, heritage, and enduring design.
“Whether working on a 200 year-old colonial or reimagining a mid-century space, we believe in creating environments that are grounded in their past and enhanced for the future.”

Q&A
How do you describe your style in a few words?
Storied spaces, layered and refined, comfortable and cozy.
Which projects excite you most?
Reimagining antique homes will always excite us, but we’re also thrilled to work on any projects that give us the opportunity to add character and design to homes lacking a distinct style identity.
Can you talk about the types of budgets/investments and project scopes you work with?
We work on all types of project scopes, from single rooms to whole house finishes for ground up construction or full home renovations. We have particular expertise in kitchen and bath design.
This 1800s timber-frame home in Westport underwent a full interior and exterior transformation, blending its storied past with modern design, custom craftsmanship, and just the right shade(s) of grey.
